Jason Boles is the Founder and CEO of Emergency Survival Charts LLC which was established in 2017. Jason grew up in Southern California and entered the US Navy in 1996. After boot camp he completed Intelligence, Class “A” school and then he attended Basic Underwater Demolition/ SEAL (BUD/S) training in California, graduating with Class 215. He then attended the US Army’s Airborne school and then reported to SEAL Team TWO in Virginia. During his time in there he completed advanced, high risk, combat training including maritime operations, combat swimmer, parachute, rappel and fastrope, small arms, demolition and small unit tactics. Additionally, he completed Naval Special Warfare Intelligence, Class “C” school, and various other intelligence courses.
In 2000 he left active duty and moved to Texas for college but remained in the active reserves, being assigned to Naval Reserve SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team TWO in Austin. Shortly after 9/11 he received a "Presidential Recall to Active Duty" and was mobilized back into active duty with a notice of less than 48 hours. He was sent to Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT) in Florida and about a month later he was forward deployed to Qatar, and later spent time in Afghanistan and various other countries in the Middle East and Europe.
In 2003, following his one year recall, he returned to Austin and continued his studies at the University of Texas (UT). He also studied abroad at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, and St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University in Russia. In 2005 he graduated from UT with a degree in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies with a minor in History.
In 2006 he moved back to San Diego and joined the Naval Reserve again, eventually being assigned to Naval Special Warfare Intel ONE, which was a support unit for the SEAL Teams. During pre-deployment training he went through a winter Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape (SERE) School in Rangely, Maine where he gained a deeper insight into those skills. He ended up being attached to SEAL Team FIVE and deployed to Iraq where he was first based in Fallujah and then later at Al Asad Airbase.
Following that deployment he left the reserves and quickly deployed again as a defense contractor. He worked for the Northrop Grumman Corporation as a Biometrics Intelligence Manager based in western Afghanistan near the Iranian border.
Jason left the defense industry after that deployment and traveled the world for upwards of a year. After returning home he moved to northern Minnesota for a few years where he enjoyed nature and all of its seasons to the fullest: camping, hunting, fishing and learning more about the great outdoors. During that time he became increasingly interested in self-sufficiency, preparedness, survival skills, and bushcraft which eventually culminated in the creation of Emergency Survival Charts, LLC. He currently lives in Southern Louisiana.
